Aiforia vs Sectra Pathology
A European department digitizing its slides can set Aiforia's CE-IVD Clinical Suite Viewer against Sectra's IDS7, and the FDA position separates them. Sectra's Digital Pathology Module holds 510(k) clearances from March 2020 and April 2024, the later one for primary diagnosis with the Leica Aperio GT 450 DX. Aiforia has no FDA clearance, and its prostate suite is research use only outside the EU and EEA. Aiforia is the pick for a lab that wants to build its own models with Aiforia Create, or to run clinical suites for breast, lung, prostate, colon and gastric slides. Sectra goes to a hospital group that wants worklists, reporting and slide review beside its radiology images, with AI bought on one marketplace contract. Sectra makes no algorithms itself, so it falls short for a lab that expects its viewer vendor to supply diagnostic AI. Neither vendor publishes a price, and a multi-year contract with Aiforia carries vendor risk, since PitchBook puts its 2025 revenue near USD 4.0M.
