Artera vs Sectra Pathology
Artera's homepage says the test is fully reimbursed for Medicare patients and that many commercial plans cover it, and the vendor says results come back within 1 to 2 days of specimen receipt. It also calls itself the first and only AI test included in the NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines. The ordering clinician treats prostate or breast cancer, and Artera lists no public price.
Sectra sells an enterprise image management system through a contact form, also with no public price. Its Digital Pathology Module (K232208, April 16, 2024) is cleared for primary diagnosis of FFPE slides scanned on a Leica Aperio GT 450 DX with a specified Dell display, in SVS and DICOM formats. Sectra's press release calls it the first FDA clearance to allow DICOM pathology images for diagnosis. A hospital pathology department going digital would run it, with IDS7 providing worklists, reporting and image review.
An oncologist orders ArteraAI as a test, and a pathology department installs Sectra as software.
