C-SATS vs VirtaMed
A simulation center training first-year residents has no use for C-SATS. It grades video captured from minimally invasive cases, and novices without operating-room access have none to upload. That buyer takes VirtaMed, whose simulators pair haptics with original instruments for arthroscopy, laparoscopy, gynecology, urology and robotic surgery. VirtaMed AG of Schlieren sells them as a capital purchase, and CAE Healthcare distributes. Trial evidence sits at the training level: in a 2024 crossover of LaparoS, LapSim and LapMentor III, all trainees improved, and the vendor says ArthroS has been in the Swiss orthopedic board exam since 2013.
A general surgery department that already operates and wants its surgeons' technique benchmarked goes the other way, to C-SATS, a J&J MedTech product. Neither vendor states an FDA status, and neither publishes a price.
