Freenome vs Vesta
Valar's Vesta suits a urologist whose non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer patient is weighing BCG. The vendor says its CLIA-certified lab runs the AI on the routine H&E slide and reports about three days after receipt. Risk Stratify adds recurrence and progression scores, and the vendor says a high recurrence score means 2x the risk of high-grade recurrence over up to 24 months. Valar raised a $22 million Series A on May 22, 2024. The testimonials on the product page are vendor-selected and undated.
Freenome's SimpleScreen CRC is a qualitative cell-free DNA blood test for colorectal cancer screening, approved as PMA P250029. Vesta applies to patients already diagnosed with bladder cancer, while Freenome's indication is screening of average-risk adults 45 and older, with colonoscopy after a positive result. A general practitioner screening those adults would order the Freenome test.
