Perplexity Pro vs Scite
Scite is for a clinician-researcher about to cite a trial in a manuscript who wants to know whether later papers supported or contradicted it. Smart Citations label each citing sentence as supporting, contrasting or mentioning. Basic is $12 per month and Pro is $40 per month, both billed yearly with a 7-day free trial, and the pricing page lists no free plan. Library guides from Calgary, Einstein and Florida State warn that the labels can be wrong and that coverage varies by field.
Perplexity Pro, at $17 per month billed annually, answers a question with inline citations. A clinician who wants a quick cited answer between consults should buy it, and Scite is a weak fit for that bedside use. iatroX and EvidenceMD, both makers of competing medical AI products, say those citations link to real pages that are not necessarily guidelines. For the manuscript author checking a cited trial, Perplexity Pro loses.
