Vesta vs Visiopharm
Valar raised a $22 million Series A on May 22, 2024, co-led by DCVC and a16z. What it sells is an AI read of bladder cancer slides: BCGPredict for BCG response, and Risk Stratify for recurrence and progression scores. The ordering physician is a urologist at a practice treating non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC) patients. An openFDA 510(k) query on November 2, 2026 under the applicant name Valar and the device name Vesta returns no Valar Labs record.
Visiopharm, founded in Denmark in 2002, says it sells CE-IVD apps under IVDR for ER, PR, HER2 and Ki-67, and its homepage lists breast, lung and prostate cancer. The vendor says at least nine diagnostic algorithms are cleared under IVDR for EU and UK customers, and it also sells a research-use platform to pharma and academia. An openFDA search under the applicant name visiopharm on October 14, 2026 returned no match. Grundium Oy announced its acquisition on May 21, 2026, terms undisclosed. Visiopharm's buyer is a pathology lab licensing software and Valar's is the urologist ordering a test, and neither purchase substitutes for the other.
