C-SATS vs Theator
Operative notes and trainee grading are separate jobs. A hospital with an operative-note backlog on Epic or Oracle Health is Theator's customer: Surgery-to-Text turns case video into a structured operative report, which the vendor says is embedded in both EHRs. In a JACS study of 158 robotic prostatectomy cases, by Mayo Clinic Urology and Theator authors, AI reports were 87.3% accurate against 72.8% for surgeon reports. The homepage claims above 95%, and the University of Miami pilot's 70% cut in time to final op note is also the vendor's figure.
A residency tracking trainee skill is C-SATS's customer. Expert and crowd reviewers grade technique on recorded cases over time, and a systematic review of 16 studies found good or excellent crowd-expert correlation in 12. Both sell on enterprise quotes.
Take a surgery department choosing a video platform with a committee that wants evidence from outside the vendor. Theator is the harder sell there: most of its validation papers have Theator-employed co-authors, and openFDA shows no 510(k) record for it.
