Canon Medical AI vs Tempus AI Imaging

Tempus Pixel's lung module is FDA cleared (K203744) but not indicated for nodule detection, and Tempus says nodule detection in the U.S. comes from a third-party engine. That limits Pixel for a lung screening program that expects nodule detection from the platform itself.

Pixel, formerly Arterys, is cloud software for lesion segmentation and longitudinal tracking in oncology, cardiac MR analysis, and breast and prostate reading. Tempus says it integrates with PACS, EHR, worklist and dictation systems, without naming vendors. The updated Pixel device was cleared in September 2025 (K252539) and generates T1 and T2 maps inline from raw MRI data. Following lesions across serial CT and MR exams at a cancer center is where Pixel fits.

Canon sells AiCE reconstruction inside Vantage and Aquilion scanners, so it enters a hardware replacement decision. Pixel is reading software, and the two rarely land on the same shortlist.
