DAX Copilot vs iScribe
A cardiology service sits outside iScribe's specialty pages, which cover orthopedics and urology, so DAX is the product to look at there, and Microsoft's page says Dragon Copilot scales across specialties and care settings. Orthopedic and urology practices are the ones iScribe's pages and coding tool describe.
DAX Copilot was tested at UCLA in a three-arm randomized trial of 238 physicians, split between DAX, Nabla and a control group. The DAX arm spent 1.7% less time in notes, a difference that was not significant (P=0.66), and used DAX in 33.5% of encounters. Epic sites need the May 2025 release or later.
iScribe began in orthopedic practices in 2015 and targets specialty practices. Its E&M Assist coding tool, whose 95% audited accuracy is a vendor claim, is reserved for orthopedics and urology on athenahealth or NextGen at this time. A 14-day complimentary trial comes before an MSA, and price is discussed while that contract is drafted. The homepage names athenaOne Preferred Partner status plus NextGen, Veradigm, Altera, Greenway and Epic.
