GE HealthCare AI Suite vs Hyperfine Swoop

Swoop is a 0.064T portable brain MRI that needs no shielded room, which puts it at the bedside in an ICU or a resource-limited hospital. Hyperfine's systems are owned, with an annual software, service and support agreement after a one-year warranty on 36- or 60-month terms (FY2025 10-K summary). An older research-paper estimate put a system near $50,000, against about $1.2 million for conventional MRI per the 10-K. Hyperfine has 17 FDA records, the newest K262622 from August 2026. Its structural contrasts are T1, T2, FLAIR and DWI, with no contrast-enhanced T1, and published comparisons put image quality below 1.5T and 3T.

A neuroradiology service that needs contrast-enhanced T1 is the wrong fit for Swoop, which does not offer it.

GE HealthCare's AI is mostly built into its own scanners. Sonic DL (K243667) extends the clearance from cardiac to all anatomies and adds 7T. The two do not compete for one purchase: an ICU weighs Swoop's no-shielded-room design, while an MR department weighs Sonic DL on a GE magnet.
