What is the portfolio and who sells it?

GE HealthCare Technologies Inc. (Nasdaq: GEHC) describes its AI offer as AI embedded in devices, large-language-model research for patient insights and algorithms for operational insights, with a platform called CareIntellect leading the list on its AI page.

Much of the portfolio was bought. Caption Health closed on 17 February 2023, for $127M upfront plus a $10M holdback and up to $13M in earn-out, according to GE's 10-Q. GE announced the acquisition of icometrix in September 2025 on undisclosed terms, and icometrix now calls itself a GE HealthCare company. Third-party coverage also names Bay Labs, BK Medical, MIM Software and Spectronic Medical.

Which products does it include, and what is cleared?

Each product is cleared on its own, and there is no single suite clearance.

• AIR Recon DL, deep-learning MRI reconstruction: K213717, cleared 8 June 2022 (product code LNH), extended to PROPELLER and 3D. GE claims scan time reduced by up to 50%.
• Sonic DL, deep-learning MRI acceleration: K243667, cleared 5 June 2025, extending from cardiac to all anatomies and adding 7T.
• Critical Care Suite, on-device chest X-ray AI that includes pneumothorax detection: K223491, cleared 25 May 2023 (product code QBS). GE calls it the first on-device AI suite for X-ray.
• Precision DL, PET/CT image processing on Omni Legend: GE announced the 510(k) clearance.
• Caption AI (Caption Guidance), cardiac ultrasound image guidance on Venue point-of-care and Vscan Air SL systems, from the Caption Health acquisition.
• icobrain aria from icometrix: described by icometrix as the first FDA-cleared tool to detect and quantify ARIA, cleared on 7 November 2024.

GE's page lists further items, such as Effortless Workflow for CT, Auto Positioning, Intelligent RT, Command Center, Verisound, MUSE NX, Invenia ABUS Premium and Portrait Mobile.

How strong is the "most FDA AI authorizations" claim?

GE says it topped the FDA's list of AI authorisations for a fourth year with 100 (company AI page, and Medical Economics, 23 July 2025). One third-party guide reports 120 cumulative as of the FDA list update of 4 September 2026. The FDA list covers all specialties, and its entries are 510(k), De Novo or PMA authorisations. The same third-party tally gives Siemens Healthineers 89, Philips 50, Canon 45, United Imaging 38 and Aidoc 31.

Where is the evidence?

Product-level literature exists, such as trials of Caption Guidance and studies of AIR Recon DL, but none covers the portfolio as a whole. A buyer should ask for the peer-reviewed data on the specific product and the scanner model, not on the brand.

Most features run inside the scanner or viewer, so EHR integration sits mainly at the PACS and DICOM level and varies by product. No HIPAA, SOC 2 or HITRUST attestation is stated for the cloud components.

How much does it cost?

GE lists no price. The AI features are sold as options on scanners or as part of equipment deals, with enterprise quotes (as of October 2026).

How does it compare?

Siemens Healthineers, Philips, Canon and United Imaging also hold FDA AI authorisations in the same tally, and Aidoc is an independent AI vendor with 31.

The verdict

Treat the portfolio as a reason to look at GE scanners. The AI is an add-on to equipment and has no standalone purchase path. Score each feature on its own clearance and published data, starting with AIR Recon DL and Sonic DL for MRI throughput, where the vendor's own numbers are the claims you will want to test on your protocols. Ask GE for the K numbers of Precision DL, Caption AI and icobrain aria.
