PrecisionOS vs VirtaMed
In a 2024 Arthroscopy randomized trial of 14 residents, immersive VR from PrecisionOS and VirtaMed's ArthroS Hip VR produced similar performance, and the immersive option cost less. The trial is small, and VirtaMed was the comparator. PrecisionOS lists $199 per month or $1,999 per year for individuals and quotes institutions. VirtaMed sells simulators as capital purchases with no public price. Its lines also cover laparoscopy, gynecology, urology and robotic surgery, while PrecisionOS lists orthopedics and podiatry as live, so a simulation center serving several specialties has one real candidate. An orthopedic program that only needs arthroscopy practice on a small budget would find VirtaMed hardware hard to justify against that result. VirtaMed says it uses AI and gives no detail. PrecisionOS names an AI Attending mentor in its mobile app.
