Birth Model vs KATE
Mednition's KATE is bought by an emergency department that wants a triage acuity recommendation and a sepsis flag at the front door, and Birth Model by a labor and delivery unit. The two work on different floors, so a hospital with both would buy each for its own department.
The vendor says Birth Model predicts delivery to within 12 minutes either way and claims 99.1% accuracy in the pushing phase, with no study linked. Its homepage lists Epic, Oracle Health and athenahealth. Mednition's homepage names no EHR and promises zero workflow changes. Mednition's 2019 claim of 26.9% better triage accuracy at Adventist Health White Memorial was still in peer review when announced. KATE Sepsis received an FDA Breakthrough Device Designation in November 2023, which is not a clearance, and openFDA lists no Mednition record. Neither vendor posts a price.
