Epic Sepsis Model vs Isabel Healthcare
Isabel DDx Companion lists $149 per year for Standard, $199 per year for Premium and $49 per year for students and residents, with a 30-day free trial and a demo request for institutions. The Epic Sepsis Model has no public price and is delivered within Epic licensing. So Isabel is bought by an individual clinician or an institution, and the sepsis model by a hospital already on Epic.
Isabel's evidence cuts both ways. A 2025 Orphanet Journal study of 100 rare-disease patients found its top-ten list matched at least one case-conference diagnosis in 28 percent, while the vendor claims 96 percent accuracy for the right disease in the top ten. The vendor says Isabel is in the Cerner App Gallery, with info-button access for Epic clients. One tool lists possible diagnoses from symptoms and the other scores sepsis risk, so a clinician buying Isabel on an individual subscription shares no purchase with an Epic hospital. For the sepsis model, the 2021 Michigan Medicine validation reported an AUROC of 0.63 and 67 percent of sepsis cases missed.
