Epic Sepsis Model vs Octagos
Octagos names Epic (SMART on FHIR with SSO), Oracle Health, athenahealth, medent and NextGen, and its homepage says it is HIPAA compliant with SOC 2 Type 2 and SOC 3 certification. The buyer is a cardiology practice that wants implantable-device transmissions triaged for it. On the vendor's AI overview page, Atlas AI drafts reports, a US-based IBHRE-certified specialist reviews them and a physician e-signature completes each one. That page does not say whether Atlas AI is FDA-cleared or exempt, and openFDA shows no Octagos record. The page also reports 99.1 percent sensitivity against 70.8 percent for technicians, from a JACC Advances study linked to Octagos. The pricing page names Pro, Premium, Flex and Custom tiers without amounts.
The Epic Sepsis Model goes to hospitals already on Epic, and a 2021 paper describes the model as implemented at hundreds of US hospitals. Octagos works on implantable-device transmissions and the sepsis score on admitted patients, which gives them different users.
