KATE vs Octagos
Mednition's KATE Sepsis holds a Breakthrough Device Designation from November 2023, a status short of clearance. The vendor says specificity is 95% and sensitivity up to 118% better than standard screening for septic shock, and Adventist Health Glendale is named for its sepsis program. An emergency department weighing sepsis alerts and a cardiology practice weighing device transmission review are separate purchases.
Octagos serves cardiology practices that review implantable device transmissions. The vendor says Atlas AI filters them, an IBHRE-certified US specialist reviews, and a physician e-signs every report. It names Epic, Oracle Health, athenahealth, medent and NextGen and states SOC 2 Type 2 and SOC 3. Its AI overview page does not say whether Atlas AI is FDA-cleared, exempt or classified as decision support. A 2025 JACC Advances study tied to Octagos is read by the vendor as showing 99.1% sensitivity for Atlas AI against 70.8% for technicians.
