What is Comprehend Health and who sells it?

The vendor states no legal name or founding year. Its about page names Jake Michalski as CEO and founder and Chris Kendall as Chief Clinical Officer and co-founder, lists a team of nine and gives an Amherst, New York contact address. Funding is not stated (comprehendhealth.ai/about).

The vendor reports more than 10,000 clinicians, 1.5 million visits documented and 200,000 hours saved. SPRY, a competing vendor, says WebPT's AI scribe has been a partnership with Comprehend Health since August 2025 (sprypt.com).

What does it do?

Per the homepage, it drafts a note from the visit conversation or from a "brain dump" of under 30 seconds, during or after the session. It builds templates from example notes, transcribes in 57 languages and runs as a web app on phone, Mac, PC and Chromebook. The free tier lists realtime compliance, chart review, an AI patient summary and audit scores (comprehendhealth.ai/pricing).

The vendor claims integration with more than 25 EMRs through a WebExtension that works with nearly all web-based systems. Logos include WebPT, Prompt, Jane, Kinnser, Clinicient, TheraOffice and Net Health. Epic and athenahealth appear only in form dropdowns.

What is stated about security?

The site says Comprehend Health "maintains full HIPAA compliance" and "meets SOC 2 Type II security standards", with Vanta monitoring and a Vanta trust center linked. HITRUST and ISO are not stated.

What are the plans and prices?

The Scribe plan shows $99.00 USD with no billing period printed. The annual option is $949.00 billed yearly, which works out to about $79 a month (comprehendhealth.ai/pricing, November 2026). A 7-day free trial applies to the Scribe tier, and the page offers a 30-day money-back guarantee under the line "Prove us wrong for 30 days". A veteran discount exists with the amount unstated, and Enterprise is "At Request".

What does the evidence consist of?

A PubMed search on the name returns zero results. The evidence is the vendor's case studies, which give no method or baseline. The vendor's Florida Orthopaedic Institute study reports 230 providers onboarded in 10 weeks and a 72% rise in engagement per provider. The Confluent Health study, covering more than 1,500 clinicians, reports "10+ hours saved per clinician per week", note signing seven times faster and churn 3.6 times lower (comprehendhealth.ai/outcomes-case-studies). A PT with more than 20 years in practice, quoted by the vendor, says it is much better than other scribes but takes time to learn how you write.

The verdict

For a therapy clinic on a web-based EMR, the free tier, the 7-day trial and the 30-day guarantee keep the cost of trying it low. Two things remain open: independent evidence for the hours-saved claims, and the period the $99 price covers.
