MedAI Verdict, Doximity Scribe record, https://medaiverdict.com/tools/doximity-scribe, version November 2, 2026
Bottom line
Doximity Scribe is an ambient note tool that Doximity offers free to verified US physicians, NPs, PAs and medical students. It drafts notes during in-person and virtual visits. Doximity says it retains no audio, and STAT reported that the notes do not feed directly into EHRs. The paid route is the enterprise Clinical AI Suite, which has no public price. It fits an individual US clinician who wants to try ambient documentation at no cost.

What is Doximity Scribe and who sells it?
Doximity announced Scribe in a July 2025 blog post by Alex Blau, MD, its medical director, who describes "a HIPAA-compliant, AI-powered clinical documentation tool that automatically generates notes during patient visits". The vendor says more than 10,000 members used the beta and created millions of notes. In May 2026 Doximity announced a partnership with Aledade to bring Scribe and Ask (formerly DoxGPT) into value-based care settings (Business Wire).
What does it do?
Per the blog, Scribe writes notes in real time, leaves out non-clinical talk, works on desktop and mobile, and offers structured templates or freeform notes with custom prompts and pause and resume. A beta integration with Doximity Dialer exists. A write-up by Vero, a competing vendor, quoting Doximity's help guide adds progress notes, H&Ps, consults and procedures, sessions up to 140 minutes, a non-English option and GPT-4o summarization.
How does it reach the EHR?
STAT reported in July 2025 that notes "won't feed directly into electronic health records", and competitor reviews describe copy and paste. Commure, a competing vendor, notes that enterprise material mentions Epic and Haiku integrations, so native write-back is unconfirmed. Patient Square, another competitor, wrote that "The free offer is not the catch" and named the limits as 29-day retention, copy-and-paste handoff and no coding or prescription workflow. Forbes (July 2025) called missing EMR integration the biggest hurdle for large systems.
What does Doximity say about privacy?
The blog says every Doximity user is covered by a BAA and "We do not store or retain any audio". Vero says notes and transcripts are kept 29 days and then deleted, that Doximity has a BAA with OpenAI, and that Doximity's security overview states SOC 2 Type 2. Commure, the same competitor, points out that the BAA allows de-identified data use for product development and that no Scribe-specific training policy is published.
Is Doximity Scribe really free?
As of November 2026 Scribe is free for verified US physicians, NPs, PAs and medical students, per the Doximity blog. Competitor reviews add CRNAs and students in those programs. Commure says nurses, therapists and dentists are excluded. No paid individual version is listed, and enterprise pricing is unpublished.
Medscape Scribe, announced by WebMD in October 2024, is also free. Doximity CEO Jeff Tangney told STAT that EHR-linked scribes cost "a hundred dollars per user per month".
What does the evidence say?
No PubMed record names Scribe, and Commure, a competitor, says the same. The beta-user figures above are Doximity's.
The verdict
A US clinician curious about ambient notes can try Doximity Scribe at no cost, and per competitor write-ups the notes are kept for 29 days. A site that needs notes written into the EHR automatically has no confirmation that the free version does that.

What deploys cleanly
Carries HIPAA per vendor documentation. Independent attestation review is the buyer's responsibility before clinical deployment.
