Bottom line

Maverick AI, which also trades as Maverick Medical AI, sells autonomous medical coding built mostly around radiology reports. Its mCoder assigns ICD-10 and CPT codes in seconds and sends them straight to billing, and the homepage promises an "85% guaranteed direct-to-bill rate." Imaging chains and radiology billing operations are the buyers. The best case result is a rollout across all 399 RadNet sites. Maverick sells by demo request.

What do mCoder and CodeAgent do?

Maverick's homepage reads "Autonomous Medical Coding in Real-Time" and says its platform "autonomously generates compliant codes and transmits directly to billing in seconds. No humans. No delays. No backlogs." mCoder assigns the codes, and Maverick says 87%+ of reports complete without human effort. It shows a rationale for each code, which Maverick calls glass-box, plus an audit trail and dashboards.

CodeAgent works earlier. It is a one-click check on the report screen that flags problems that would block coding or billing before the provider signs the report.

Maverick says go-live takes about three months. Its homepage badge reads "HIPAA, SOC 2 certification."

What results has Maverick reported?

RadNet's direct-to-bill rate went from 50% to 86% at go-live, and coding lag fell from 12 days to 1 day. Imaging Center Network reached 87% direct-to-bill from 0%. Susan Hollabaugh, CIO of RadNet, is quoted on the homepage: "Today all of our coding is done with Maverick and we have an 85% direct-to-bill rate."

A December 2024 Business Wire release from Maverick says mCoder runs at all 399 RadNet sites and has processed 10M+ reports. Maverick publishes no validation study for the 85% figure, and the homepage describes it as "guaranteed" without showing the terms.

Who is behind it?

Maverick was founded in 2018 by Yossi Shahak and Michael Brozino, per a third-party profile. It is based in Tel Aviv with a US presence. A $5M seed round in March 2022, led by Lionbird and Firstime Ventures, followed a $2M pre-seed. On 13 August 2025 Infinx announced a strategic investment of undisclosed size.

What does a buyer pay?

Maverick asks buyers to request a demo, and the 85% guarantee is the only commercial term on the page. EHR and RIS integrations, HITRUST and BAA status are not on the site. Its software codes reports and is not an FDA-regulated device.

The verdict

The product is narrow and the evidence for it is concentrated in radiology, with one very large customer. A radiology billing operation can compare itself to RadNet. A primary care or multispecialty practice would be buying on the strength of an imaging customer's results and should look at coding vendors with results in its own specialties.
