MedAI Verdict, Overjet record, https://medaiverdict.com/tools/overjet, version November 2, 2026

Bottom line

Overjet is dental radiograph AI sold to dentists and dental service organizations. Its imaging products mark caries, calculus, periapical radiolucencies and tooth anatomy on bitewing and periapical radiographs, and CBCT analysis and a web-based dental image manager arrived in 2025 and 2026. Dental groups that want caries, calculus and charting reads on bitewing and periapical images fit. Among the indications read in FDA's summaries, none covers panoramic radiographs.

What does the FDA list cover?

Twelve decisions run from K210187 (Overjet Dental Assist, May 19, 2021) to K261059 (Overjet Multi-Image Caries and Charting Assist, August 6, 2026). Caries Assist was cleared in 2022 for bitewing radiographs, widened in 2023 to periapical films and extended to children in 2024. Calculus Assist followed in 2022 and Periapical Radiolucency Assist in 2023. Charting Assist, cleared in 2024 and updated that year, detects tooth anatomy, numbering, implants, crowns, root canal treatment and fillings. An image enhancement tool came in 2024, CBCT Assist in December 2025 and Iris, a web-based dental PACS, in April 2026. The August 2026 multi-image decision covers detection of primary enamel, primary dentin and secondary caries together with charting.

Vision AI's page lists decay detection for ages 4 and up and periapical radiolucency detection for ages 12 and up. Overjet also says it is FDA cleared to quantify bone levels, an indication not mapped to any decision above.

How accurate is the caries detection?

A 2025 paper in Frontiers in Dental Medicine (PMID 41696690) measured Caries Assist accuracy, with average sensitivity of 0.69 for enamel and 0.91 for dentin and specificity of 0.99 and 0.98. A 2026 Journal of Dentistry study (PMID 42303112) compared bitewing reading, ICDAS and Caries Assist against micro-CT. At the dentin threshold the AI reached 56% sensitivity, against 75% for bitewing reading and 100% for ICDAS. A 2025 BMC Oral Health paper (PMID 41372893) reports a validation of the Overjet platform for periodontal disease on full-mouth radiographs. Whether the authors of these papers are independent of Overjet is not verified.

What does the company say about itself?

Boston-based Overjet was founded in 2018. Its Trust Center says the company completed an independent HITRUST audit and obtained certification, without a date. The vendor claims thousands of dentists use its products.

What does trying it involve?

No public price. The site carries "Try for free" links and a demo booking.

The verdict

Dental groups that want caries, calculus and charting support from one vendor, plus its own dental image viewer, are the fit. For dentin-level caries, the 2026 micro-CT comparison put the AI's sensitivity at 56%.
