DermaSensor vs Octagos
DermaSensor rents its handheld device monthly under a one-year device use agreement with a try-and-return option, training included, and its FAQ gives no outright-purchase price. Primary care practices working up suspicious skin lesions use it, while Octagos goes to cardiology practices, so their customers differ.
Octagos names Pro (software only), Premium (adds clinical and patient engagement services), Flex (on-demand services) and Custom tiers. Billing runs through a usage-based Billable Transmissions Plan, a Fixed-Monthly Plan or a Custom Plan, with no amounts posted, and the vendor says average EHR go-live takes 21 days.
On evidence, DermaSensor's evidence page lists specificity of 9.4% at the lowest cut point in a UPMC study the vendor calls the first independent investigator-initiated US study, alongside 96% sensitivity in the vendor-run DERM-SUCCESS multi-reader study. Octagos's AI overview page, a vendor document, puts Atlas AI sensitivity at 99.1% against 70.8% for technicians in an Octagos-linked 2025 JACC Advances paper.
