Kaplan USMLE vs OnlineMedEd

OnlineMedEd costs $30 a month billed as $360 a year, $48 a month on a six-month plan, or $79 for a single month. Kaplan runs from a $199 Step 1 Qbank to a $3,200 Live Online course, six weeks of live teaching with three one-on-one advising sessions. Kaplan promises a refund on that course if the student does not pass first time, on footnoted terms. A third-year heading into shelf exams gets more than 600 whiteboard videos, 3,000 pages of notes and separate MD, DO and PA tracks for $360 a year, which makes Kaplan's Step 1 products overbuilt for that student. A Step 1 candidate who wants a schedule and an instructor has no equivalent at OnlineMedEd. A resident after depth beyond the intern level is also poorly served there, and a PGY-2 on r/FamilyMedicine asked in 2024 for "resident level as opposed to like onlinemeded". Archer Review bought OnlineMedEd in March 2025 and checkout now redirects to Archer. The pricing page states no free trial, no refund policy and nothing on whether current subscribers keep their rate.
