Epocrates vs NarxCare
NarxCare is for a health system whose EHR carries PDMP data, and Epocrates for the clinician or resident team buying a plan. NarxCare is Bamboo Health's tool, placed inside EHR and pharmacy systems, showing prescription monitoring data as tiles with scores. Its page shows no price and does not say whether state PDMP funding covers access. A 2021 retrospective hip-replacement study tied scores above 300 to adverse outcomes, and a 2019 spine study found no association between admission narcotics scores and adverse outcomes.
Epocrates offers monthly and annual plans, the annual one billed as a 40% saving, plus a group plan for teams and residents. Reviewers on GetApp and other app listings cite subscription cost, paywalled features and sponsor ads at app open.
The epocrates+ page lists drug information, interaction checks, calculators, herbs and supplements, ICD-10 codes and disease guidance, and no PDMP feature, so a health system after controlled-substance history would not get it from Epocrates.
