Micromedex vs UpToDate Lexidrug
Published comparisons put Micromedex and Lexicomp at the top for interaction accuracy, so a pharmacy already running Micromedex has little reason to switch on accuracy alone. Two results favor Lexicomp. In a Janusmed comparison of 109 alerts rated C or D, 82% got a similar alert in Lexicomp and 69% in Micromedex, and Yale New Haven swapped Micromedex for Lexicomp in September 2022. A renal transplant study found 8.2% of Micromedex-flagged interactions clinically relevant against 4.2% for Lexicomp, which favors Micromedex on alert noise. Micromedex names Poisindex, NeoFax and RED BOOK pricing, adds an AI search with cited answers, and is quoted per organization with no public price. Lexidrug suits the hospital pharmacist who wants Trissel's IV compatibility and the offline app on a personal subscription, listed at $29.99 per month in app stores. A pharmacy that wants RED BOOK pricing inside its drug reference should buy Micromedex, and Lexidrug loses that buyer.
